Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Crust
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the cold butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the egg yolk and ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough starts to come together.
- Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with honey, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour.
- Make sure all the apple slices are evenly coated. Set aside.
Step 3: Assemble the Tart
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch tart pan.
- Press the dough into the pan and trim the edges.
- Arrange the apple slices in a circular pattern over the crust, overlapping slightly.
- Pour any remaining honey mixture over the apples.
Step 4: Bake the Tart
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- While the tart is baking, prepare the glaze by heating the apricot jam and water in a small saucepan until melted and smooth.
- Brush the glaze over the warm tart right after it comes out of the oven.
