Description

Perfect for the Thanksgiving table, this classic pumpkin pie is sure to add a touch of warmth and flavor to your holiday with its rich pumpkin flavor and sweet filling!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pie Crust

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp the edges as desired.
  • Place the pie crust in the refrigerator while you prepare the filling.

Step 2: Make the Pumpkin Filling

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.
  • Add the eggs to the pumpkin mixture and beat until well combined.
  • Gradually stir in the evaporated milk until the filling is smooth and uniform.

Step 3: Fill and Bake the Pie

  • Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator and pour the pumpkin filling into the crust.
  • Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 40 minutes, or until the filling is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  • Once cooled, slice the pumpkin pie into equal portions.
  • Serve each slice with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
  • Enjoy the delicious flavors of homemade pumpkin pie with your loved ones!

Notes

  • For a homemade touch, consider making your own pie crust from scratch using your favorite recipe.
  • To prevent the edges of the pie crust from over-browning, you can cover them with aluminum foil halfway through the baking time.
  • Make sure to use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, for the best flavor and texture in your pie.
