Ingredients
Scale
- 1 vanilla bean
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon powdered gelatin
Instructions
Step 1:
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes to bloom.
Step 2:
- In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a simmer.
- Once it simmers, remove it from the heat. Add the vanilla extract to the cream mixture and stir to combine.
- Then, add the bloomed gelatin to the cream mixture and stir until the gelatin completely dissolves.
Step 3:
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to ensure a smooth texture.
- Pour the mixture into individual serving glasses or ramekins.
- Allow it to cool to room temperature, then cover the glasses with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
Step 4:
- Once the panna cotta is set, you can serve it as is or with your choice of fruit compote, caramel sauce, or fresh berries.
- Optionally, you can garnish it with mint leaves or a sprinkle of powdered sugar before serving.
