Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray or additional butter for greasing the pan
Instructions
Step 1:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
Step 2:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Step 3:
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold them together until just combined.
- Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
Step 4:
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Lightly grease the skillet with cooking spray or butter.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet in the shape of a heart.
- Use a spoon to shape the batter into a heart if necessary.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface of the pancake and the edges start to look set.
Step 5:
- Carefully flip the pancake using a spatula and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Step 6:
- Repeat with the remaining batter, re-greasing the skillet as needed.
