Description

Not only are these lamb meatballs easy to make, but they’re also nutritious, making them a healthy and delicious holiday dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meatball Mixture

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, chopped parsley, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  • Use your hands for the best results, ensuring the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Step 2: Shape the Meatballs

  • Take a portion of the meatball mixture and roll it between your palms to form a ball, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  • Repeat with the remaining mixture, placing the formed meatballs on a plate or tray.

Step 3: Cook the Meatballs

  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Cook for about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meatballs are browned on all sides and cooked through.
  • Transfer the cooked meatballs to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Repeat until all meatballs are cooked.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  • Arrange the cooked meatballs on a serving platter and garnish with additional fresh parsley, if desired.
  • Serve the lamb meatballs hot as part of your Eid al-Adha feast, alongside your favorite sides such as rice, couscous, or a salad.
  • Enjoy the tender and flavorful meatballs with family and friends, celebrating the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can customize the seasoning of the meatballs according to your preferences by incorporating spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, or chili powder.
  • If you prefer a leaner option, you can use ground turkey or chicken instead of lamb.
  • To save time, you can prepare the meatball mixture in advance and refrigerate it until ready to cook.
  • Leftover meatballs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage. Reheat gently in the microwave or oven before serving.
