Description

This delicious Scallops with Garlic Butter Sauce combines fresh jumbo scallops with an aromatic garlic butter sauce that is tender and refreshing, making it a simple yet sophisticated seafood dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large scallops, fresh or thawed if frozen
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Scallops

  • Pat the scallops dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • Season both sides of each scallop with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Sear the Scallops

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  • Carefully add the scallops to the skillet, making sure they are not overcrowded.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and caramelized. Avoid moving them too much to ensure a nice sear.
  • Once cooked, transfer the scallops to a plate and cover loosely with foil to keep warm.

Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce

  • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and minced garlic.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, until the garlic becomes fragrant and lightly golden, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Stir in the chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cook for another 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 4: Serve

  • Arrange the seared scallops on a serving platter or individual plates.
  • Spoon the garlic butter sauce generously over the scallops.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For the best sear on the scallops, make sure they are dry before cooking and that the skillet is hot.
  • Use a large skillet to ensure the scallops have enough space to sear properly without overcrowding.
  • Serve the scallops with crusty bread or over a bed of pasta or risotto for a complete meal.
